Several studies have reported gut microbiome dysbiosis as a factor in rapid progression of insulin resistance in Type 2 Diabetes. The gut microbiome influences breakdown of sugars in the gut, glucose sensing and also rate of production of Insulin. Studies have also identified specific species of bacteria that are found in less number in diabetic patients. Current research has now identified causal relationship between the gut flora and diabetes. It now seems that reversing Type 2 Diabetes is possible. What is more evident is that the gut microbiome profile is a very important marker to detecting diabetes at a very early stage before any traditional testing method can.
